This U.S. army style utility shirt incorporates off-cuts of solid and printed cloths from Maharishi’s AW21 Art of War production - the patchwork and embroidery is inspired by 'boro', a traditional Japanese repair method.

Adopted by rural Japanese in the nineteenth century, worn out clothing would often be patched over with scrap cloth and sashiko stitching. As the garment went through cycles of repair it would form a patchwork giving a 'ragged' or 'tattered' appearance from which the name Boro is derived.

Cotton Sateen · 100% Cotton

1960’s era U.S. Army cotton sateen twill, reproduced exclusively for Maharishi. Used in AW21 to reproduce the uniforms worn by the U.S. Navy Riverine and helicopter support units, as well as for Eastern utility wear of the Civilian Regular Defence Group.
