Year of the Dog

Continuing the celebration of Chinese Lunar New Year, maharishi pays respect to the Dog with an embroidered tour jacket.

The eleventh creature in the Zodiac cycle, the dog is held with high regard within Chinese mythology. Expressing character traits such as kindness, loyalty, and trustworthiness, statues of dogs were often the guardians of palaces, tombs, and royal buildings in order to ward off evil or bad luck.

The Moon Melton wool jacket features heavily detailed handworked embroideries of a British Bulldog and a Chinese Lion Dog - representing maharishi’s ongoing thematic duality of east vs. west. The reverse of the jacket reinforces the subject of pacifism, with an adaptation of Winston Churchill’s quote — “to jaw-jaw is always better than to war-war.”

The Year of the Dog Jacket is available in very limited quantities at 11AM Friday 2nd February, exclusive to maharishi.
