3428 Rozu Kimono

As part of the Women’s Autumn Winter 2016 collection, flower fascists maharishi offer a psychedelic take on a Japanese Sukujan souvenir jacket with the Rozu Kimono. Constructed in a viscose-silk blend, the kimono is padded with jah-quilting – mimicking widely popular vintage U.S. Army quilted liners. Hand-worked embroideries are heavily featured, including four katakana symbols that read MA – HA – RI – SHI, and most prominent, the rozu tiger embroidery. The tiger has long been considered a symbol of powerful energy, strength and courage.

In addition to the kimono, maharishi also offer the Hanafuda Silk Trackpants, which feature handworked embroidery inspired by Japanese Hanafuda playing cards. Whilst the jacket is inspired by the traditional souvenir jacket popularised in the Japanese/American war, the pant embroidery placement is more inspired by the Bozo Zoku (contemporary Japanese biker gangs) as a nod to all of the biker references in maharishi’s AW16 collection, and the fact that bike gangs were the precursor to contemporary streetwear.
